New Look, Same Great Stories

I decided to switch it up tonight (Marc's watching the game so I have had plenty of play time on the computer). I wanted to spice up the blog a bit so I change the background, but never fear, the shenanigans will still be here!

And the Winner Is...

Saturday night Marc and I went to the Easter Seals Spring Gala in San Francisco. My company bought four tables so they included us in the attendees. It was a really nice event with a silent auction, sit down dinner, and entertainment (American Idol finalists - we were in heaven, though no Michael Johns). We rode into the city with the director of the grocery/snacks team that I sort of dotted line report into. Marc, being the epitome of appropriateness, starts to talk to him during dinner about our products and starts dogging our ketchup, Hunt's. The director tells him about the awards we have actually won and blind taste tests that Hunt's is always the winner and I chime in that whenever I am in Naperville or Omaha (our corporate headquarters) I have Hunt's ketchup and it's actually quite good). So the director tells me to bring a bottle home for Marc to try. Since I went to ConAgra almost a year ago, Marc has been adament that Heinz ketchup is the best. So tonight I brought home a bottle of Hunt's ketchup.

Tonight we had the first Zimmerman Taste Test Challenge. Before Marc got home from work I put Heinz ketchup in a bowl and Hunt's Ketchup in a bowl. I even put the Heinz in the fancy bowl. I asked Marc by looking at them which one was Hunts and which was Heinz, he immediately called out Hunt's as being Heinz, he was so confident too. So then I told him to taste them before I revealed which was which. He had to taste each one multiple times before he called out that the bowl he originally thought was Heinz was actually Hunt's and that it did indeed taste better. I believe he called it "more flavorful."

Homer and His Shenanigans

So funny story, Homer has this new habit of licking our pillows for some odd reason, he gets obsessive about licking (we're going to the vet on Friday to address it) and he literally makes out with our pillows, it's really gross but there is nothing we can do short of putting our pillows out of his reach which is a pain for us, so we just flip them over and switch with each other when the other person isn't looking. But I digress, most mornings Homer generally jumps on the bed and naps while I get ready but today he was unusually feisty so he was licking our pillows. I let it go because he usually has to pee after licking so I thought it would make him go more on our walk and then he wouldn't pee in the house today (that theory turned out to be a bad one - yeah we're talking to the vet about that too). So I am in the shower rinsing out the conditioner from my hair and I hear a pathetic whimper. So I yell to him to ask him what was the matter, I thought maybe he wanted to come into the bathroom to see me and the door was closed to far for him to push open. After I call to him I hear another whimper, this one stronger, and I flipped, all I could think was he fell off the bed and broke something, or he jumped off the bed without using his stool and he broke something, or he was having a seizure. So I jumped out of the shower, water running, didn't bother grabbing a towel and I went into the bedroom. I didn't see him on the bed so then I looked in his crate and he wasn't there. Now mind you, I am naked and wet at this point, so I call his name again, kind of panicked since he is no where in sight and our bedroom isn't that big and I hear him cry again and I follow the cry and there is Homer wedged between the bed and the wall. We have about a 6 inch gap between the bed and the wall because Marc's afraid the bed will stain our paint and Homer must have gotten to the head of the bed to get better leverage to lick our pillows and slipped and fell into the crack - so much for him being up to par with Lassie, she rescues people from cracks, my dog falls in them. Fortunately, he is a chunky monkey so his belly stopped him from sliding all the way down and he was just dangling in the gap. It was hilarious. I pulled him out, gave him a lecture about licking our pillows and the consequences that come with it and got back in the shower. The rest of the morning he laid in the same spot I put him in and stared at me with a sheepish look on his face, I know he was scared and embarassed but it was so funny. What a way to start a Monday! I wish I had gotten a snapshot of it, but I was too worried he had hurt himself. The dog's lucky he cracks me up or else I might kill him for peeing in my house everyday. I'm sure he won't be making that mistake again and if he does, I will be armed with a camera!

My New "Sweet Home Alabama"

You know there are those types of movies that you can watch over and over again, they are definitely not cinematic masterpieces but they are like movie comfort food for the soul. I have some definite staples:

• Sweet Home Alabama
• Legally Blonde
• Legally Blonde 2
• Bring it On

I can watch these movies over and over again and I never, ever get tired of the them. They are the feel good movies to me, I bring many of them on business trips with me and watch them on the plane, I even sit through the commercials on TBS of these movies. Well I just added a new one to my list, "27 Dresses." I watched it Wednesday night and as I was watching it I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it, I don't want to spoil it but I was really sad about what Katherine Heigel's character was going through but in the end, I turned to Marc and said "This is my new :Sweet Home Alabama." He rolled his eyes at me, naturally.

For anyone who has not seen "27 Dresses" I definitely recommend adding it to you comfort food.
