Scariest Moment of Parenthood So Far

So last Sunday we headed to the mall to do some errands and make some returns.  Riley told us she had to go potty while we were in Nordstrom so Marc took her and then rather than fighting to get her back into her stroller he let her walk.  My back was killing me so I was sitting while he looked around the men's department but decided to get up to watch him keep an eye on Riley.  She started playing the chase game and took off, I turned around with the stroller to follow her but wasn't fast enough (which is a theme these days) and before I could get to the end of the aisle she was out of site.  I thought she turned right so I went that way and she was no where to be seen.  At first I thought she was playing "Where's Riley?" so I didn't panic but after a few minutes she didn't come out and I started to panic, I even left our stroller with my purse in the middle of the aisle.  All of those horrible stories that you see on the news started to go through my head.  One of the sales associates heard me calling and asked how old Riley was and started to call security who was heading over.  Apparently they have undercover security there, he must have heard Marc and I calling her.  I was giving him a description and he was about to call in a "Code Adam," which is basically where they shut down the store and all associates stop what they are doing and look for the child until the child is found, when a woman who was helping Marc earlier saw her across the store and she was calling for us.  Marc was closer so he got to her first, I ran from where I was (near the escalator because I figured she'd want to ride it) to her.  Thank goodness she was safe but it was seriously the worse feeling in the world.  I would almost rather her throw a temper tantrum in the middle of the floor and kick and scream then disappear again.  I'm sure people saw me waddling (and yes, Marc confirmed I was waddling around Nordstrom) and were like "Sheesh, she can't even keep track of her 1 kid and she's going to have another!"  Here is Riley moments after being found, yep, she decided she didn't want to leave and threw herself on the ground:

We tried to have the stranger danger talk with her but I'm not sure how much she understood.  We just tried to tell her that there are a lot of people who want to give owies to people and she always has to stay with Mommy and Daddy.  Again, not sure how much she got but she did repeat it in the car on the ride home.  I on the other hand could not shake that awful feeling for a few days and had a very restless night sleep that night!
