Riley-isms

It's been a while since we've had a Riley-ism post but she was in rare form this past weekend so here goes:

We were at the Giants game and she wanted another turn to bat in the little t-ball area but they were closing it down for a private party, so she asks Marc why she can't get back in line and he says "Well they're having a private party so they're closing it down."  To which Riley responds "Wait, a private party, so are they not going to wear underwear."

Saturday we were at a party for one of Marc's co-workers, they were doing a trivia game and she says "When are we playing the game?"
I said "This is the game."
She say "It's kind of boring."
I said "That's not polite, and it's a grown up game."
She says "I don't want to be a grown-up, they play boring games!"

Finally, Monday night she says this to me: "Ryan (our neighbor) really likes me, he always wants to sit next to me, he even wants to kiss me, I like Ryan too, I want to kiss him back."  Um, SOOOOO not ready for that!!!

Morning Laugh

Last night I jinxed myself for this morning by telling Marc that  I was going to let the kids sleep in.  Let's just say that it was a good thing that I got up at my normal 4:45 to pump and work out because Riley came in at 5 to 6:00 not wanting to sleep anymore.  Good bye alone time!  My boy, Jacob, well he had a super rough cranky day at day care yesterday so he was sound asleep and continued to sleep until 7:30 when I finally woke him up so Riley wouldn't miss breakfast at school.  That left me with a good hour and a half with Riley.  She sat on my lap while I did some early work and as we were sitting there she turned to me and said:

"Momma, I sure do never stop talking."

I couldn't help but crack up, finally something that Riley and I agree on!

Riley-isms to the Max

Riley is absolutely hilarious these days, I really need to keep a notebook with me at all times to capture what she says because I forget half of the funny things that she says.  Here's a few of my favorites so far.

Last night she earned her 5th smiley face for good behavior and listening which meant she earned her latest prize, a set of beads to make necklaces with.  When we told her she got her 5th smiley face and that the prize was hers she said "Oh my gosh, I don't believe it!"

Then later last night Marc said to her: "Riley, Sunday is Mother's Day, what should we do for Mommy?"
Riley: "We should probably get a card."
Then I asked her: "Riley, did you make me something for Mother's Day at school?"
Riley: "No, maybe next time though."

And by far my favorite Riley-ism:  My company is getting rid of their fleet cars and going to a monthly reimbursement and lucky me got picked for Wave 1 of the transfer of programs so I have to get a new car by May 29.  Currently, I let Riley have a snack in my car whenever she wants but when I get my new car I am changing the rules and there will be no snacks so I've been prepping her for the change for about a month now.  So we were driving home from day care last week and Riley said: "When I get bigger I'm going to get a big car and I'm not going to have rules because I like snacks.  But you need to sit next to me because I don't know how to drive yet."

I know there are way more, I just need to start writing them down right away!  She seriously makes us laugh with her logic and the way she puts stuff in context!

Whew, where does the time go???

These past few weeks have been a blur.  After Riley's birthday party Riley and I both got sick, Riley had a bad cold with a low grade fever and I got the stomach flu.  I was so out of commission I couldn't even sit up to pump and poor Marc had to work at home and take care of Riley, Jacob and I.  On top of all of the sickness, Riley fell out of her chair at dinner and hit her head on the tile and had a nasty bump so we had to keep her awake for 2 hours and then wake her up after 2 hours.  We were pretty much a hot mess!   Now Jacob has what Riley had and is actually on a nebulizer treatment every 4 hours.  I am actually feeling pretty overwhelmed and am really hoping that my mom is able to fly up tonight to help.   Between, pumping, breathing treatments and feedings plus Riley in the mix I have no idea how I can handle everything so hopefully mommy can come to the rescue.  Luckily, Jacob does not have RSV, that came back negative and at 8 weeks he weighed 9lbs 11oz, my little beefcake.  Jacob is at that awesome age.  He has started to smile and light up when he sees us and it is awesome.  He's taken a particular liking to Riley's old fishy play mat and a green plush frog rattle.  He's cooing and bunch and is overall a super happy guy (minus this respiratory virus that he has right now).

Riley is a total trip, I am super happy to say she seems to have gotten past her extreme jealousy and is seriously in love with her brother.  Her Riley-isms get more funny with each day.  Right now, our favorites are when she calls her Crocs, her "crotches."  She even asked me where my "crotches" were and when I told her I didn't have any she told me I should get some "crotches just like her."  Marc and I can't help but laugh.  She also calls the bank the "piggy bank."  I really need to write down all of the Riley-isms when she says them because they are really hilarious.  All Riley can talk about right now is when Brother is older and he goes to school with her, all she has to do is ask her teacher and she can go visit her brother whenever she wants.  She is VERY excited!  And she loves to help with anything and everything.  When you say you need to do something out loud she chimes in "I can help you" and gets to work at the task at hand.  It's actually very sweet!

So here's some pictures from the last few weeks.

One of Riley's favorite birthday presents!  Roller skates just like the Care Bears have in their movie.  She's actually pretty good at them!

First smiles from my handsome pants!  I can't get enough of them!  Fortunately there are no shortages on Jacob-pants smiles, he has plenty, especially for Riley and I.  He's definitely a Mamma's boy! :)

Memory

I personally suffer from CRS, also known as "Can't Remember Shit," I'd like to say it's pregnancy brain but let's face it, I couldn't remember anything before I had Riley, got pregnant, and it's just getting worse.  My daughter on the other hand, nothing gets by her and she remembers EVERYTHING!  When we took her to see The Muppets for instance she asked if they were going to come out the sides, a reference to The Muppets 3D vision that visited at California Adventure in Disneyland a year ago!

Today I took Riley for her flu shot, I've learned it's better to warn Riley about these sort of things rather than trick her into going.  I told her last night that we were going to go to the Dr tomorrow and she had to get an "owie" to keep her from getting sick and from getting baby brother sick.  I reminded her again this morning when she woke up that we were going and that she was going to get a shot and it would hurt but not too bad and if she was super brave she would get a lollipop and a sticker.  She said back to me: "We not go see Beverly, Beverly doesn't give owies, just lollipops and stickers."  (Beverly is her orthopedics office administrator) I said "No, we're not going to see Beverly and Dr H today.  And you're very right, they just look at your feet and give you lollipops and stickers for showing up."  She then says "When we go see Beverly again?"  Not til January my dear, though we don't even have an appointment!

How on earth does this girl remember stuff!?!  We haven't been to Dr H since early August!  I wonder if Riley has some brain cells that she wants to share with me!

3 More Months...

until her 3rd birthday!  I truly can't believe how big of a girl Riley is these days!  The things she says are hilarious and she seems to have matured in the last month so much.  So what's new, we're pretty much potty trained, we have had a few accidents every so often but for the most part she's potty trained during the day (still working on nights), she LOVES her big girl bed and transitioned to it without a hitch!  In fact she has slept better since going to the big girl bed than she has in crib for quite some time and we no longer hear her night night shoes clanking around.  Riley is also transitioning to Pre-School A and has recently started taking ballet and dance class at school on Thursdays which she loves!  And she's quite the little mommy to her "Ya-Yas!"  She has become so much more of a girly-girl and is into having her hair done and getting pampered.  The other day I was drying my hair and she went and got her princess hair dryer and brush and started doing her hair like I was.

Some recent Riley-isms:

"Mom do you like that song?"

"Mommy, you my fwiend?"

"I tooted in my underwear!"

"I burpped in my mouf!"

"No way Jose!"

Me: "Riley, did you make a new friend in school this week?"
Riley: "Yes, Ishna"
Me:"Is is Ishna a boy or a girl?"
Riley: "Ishna is a vegetarian."
Ok, good talk!

Marc: "Riley, are you going to use your own monies for the pony rides?"
Riley: "I don't have any, we'll just use mommy's!"

And everything happens on "Friday."  As in: "Daddy, you have no hair, don't worry, it will come in on Fwiday."
