I wish I had a really cool story as to where I have been for the last month but the truth is, I got a new phone in January! Yes, January, and have not for the life of me been able to figure out how to download my photos onto my computer until today. Yes, that's two months of trying, kids waking up to interrupt me, I know lame, but I figured it out (or I got lucky) so I get ready for lots of photos and videos, we've actually been quite busy.
I am now officially a Temp Stay-At-Home Mom. I say temp because starting April 20th, I will be working 2 days a week at Peet's headquarters doing Category Management and then come June I will be there full time filling in for a friend while she is out on Maternity Leave, I am really excited to start there, it's a headquarter role which I've never done and I of course love coffee, and Peet's is our favorite.
Since I'm off we moved Jacob to part-time daycare so I have my Loo on Tuesdays and Thursdays which we are both loving. I've also stepped up and am helping with Riley's softball team, which is so much fun!
So that's where we've been, my total technological lameness has kept me from keeping up with this blog so I will now attempt to catch up. Brace yourselves for the Cliff Notes version of our last 2 months!

Has It Really Been 3 Weeks???
All I can say is that being off has been absolutely glorious, I don't know where they time has gone. Reconnecting with my kids have been the greatest and everyone is happier and more well behaved. Lots has happened, some good, some bad so here goes the update:
Dog: We had a dog for 2 days, he was adorable, sweet, beautiful but was 3 months old and the kids were petrified of his energy. We named him Buster and he was a Goldendoodle and I became attached to him very quickly. The kids wouldn't be on the same level of the house as him so luckily the breeder was understanding and took him back. When it was just Marc and I he was essentially the perfect dog, he slept by some one's side or feet but when the kids were around he was all puppy. He would jump on Jacob and knock him over and mouth his head, obviously he thought of Jacob as a litter mate but Jacob didn't feel the same. Two weeks later he still tells me that the "Oof bite hand. Owie." Hopefully he's not scarred for life!
Death: My co-worker/friend's husband collapsed playing basketball 2 weeks ago and died. They don't know the cause but the autopsy showed an enlarged heart. He was 32 and we have been social with them. They have a 3 year old daughter and she and Riley adore each other and an 8 month old son. I took it pretty hard, my heart breaks for my friend and her children. I attended the funeral last Friday which was horrible. The image of my friend and her two children following the casket was too much to handle. I often believe that everything happens for a reason and God only gives you what you are strong enough to handle but with this particular situation I struggle with that and faith, how could God take a 32 year old father away from his young wife and young children and leave these children fatherless. The baby will have no memories of him and I find myself questioning faith.
New Friends: I'll end on a highlight, we made some new friends. There was a woman in San Jose that I started emailing with from one of the clubfoot groups and turns out her first (she's pregnant with number 2) was born the exact same day as Jacob and has bilateral clubfeet just like Riley. We are very similar and hit it off and best of all, the kids all played wonderfully together, even sourpuss Jacob! It is so nice to have a local friend now that understands the trials and tribulations of clubfeet and the constant worry over the feet. It's also nice to have another set of eyes looking at her feet. Unfortunately, she saw what I saw on Riley's right foot which is, it is turning in and there's a crease on the bottom. I thought maybe it was from the walker but it is getting worse. Luckily we go Friday so Dr H can take a look at it. Our new friends also go to the same practice for B's foot though they see a different Dr there so it's nice to compare notes! B took right to Riley and Jacob cried for his new buddy when they had to go home!
Riley has been doing fantastic. I have really enjoyed spending time with her and have a whole new appreciation of her. When I was uber upset about having to give Buster back she climbed up on the couch, comforted me and pulled up pictures of Buster as memories. She also took these photos, how could I be sad with this face around???
When my friend invited us over to help cheer up her daughter, I told Ri what happened to Reese's daddy and she insisted on picking out a Cheer Bear Care Bear for Reese to help cheer her up. She has such a good heart and an old soul. We've spent a lot of time making Rainbow Loom bracelets. I've also moved Jacob to part time day care while I've been home and he's doing much better. No bites in like 3 weeks (knock on wood) and I'm loving all of the laughs that he is full of each night now that I have time to sit down and tickle monster him or be his horsey. This time has really made me reevaluate my priorities and make me realize that I need to be more available to the kids. Now I just need to figure out how to balance it all when I go back to work next week, which officially is going to be really hard for me to do!

Brain Doctor
I got super lucky last week, the stars aligned, the sun was shining and as soon as that referral came through for the neurologist I called to get an appointment and low and behold she had an appointment available for Friday at 10:30, next available was for April 12 so I scooped up Friday's appointment. As luck would have it Marc was returning from Austin on Friday and his flight was scheduled to land at 9:10 in San Jose so he made it to the appointment in Fremont just in time. I told Riley we were going to see the brain doctor because her brain had been acting funny and we wanted to make sure it was ok. The whole way down she said she didn't like Drs, only Dr Bossyman (Dr H), he was the only nice doctor (because he doesn't give shots, we'll see if she still thinks this after her surgery next year!). I asked her about her pediatrician and she said yes, she liked her too so I told her this Dr was friends with her, that Dr A wouldn't be friends with a mean Dr. And I'm sure Dr H would be friends with her too since Riley holds all of her Drs up to Dr H standards.
I loved the neurologist, she was super friendly, made Riley feel comfortable and was very thorough. She believes that Riley actually had a complex partial seizure (versus an absence seizure which the pediatrician thought she had), where it starts in one part of the brain and spreads across the brain. The great news is she's almost certain it wasn't caused (if she did indeed have a seizure) by any underlying issues, i.e. tumors, strokes, cardiac issues (since Riley turned pale and not blue) and that it could be a one time deal or it could be the beginning of more seizure activity. Riley's quality of life does not have to change, we just have to be more vigilant around water. We're scheduled for an EEG on April 24, that was the first available appointment that they had so we're hoping to get some answers there, though there can be a lot of false negatives on the tests. Fingers crossed for some answers and that it was a one time deal for her!
The Dr even followed up that night with email saying that it was great to meet us and if we ever have any questions or concerns to reach out to her. I was so impressed, it's not every day that a Dr reaches out like that!

Whew, where does the time go???
These past few weeks have been a blur. After Riley's birthday party Riley and I both got sick, Riley had a bad cold with a low grade fever and I got the stomach flu. I was so out of commission I couldn't even sit up to pump and poor Marc had to work at home and take care of Riley, Jacob and I. On top of all of the sickness, Riley fell out of her chair at dinner and hit her head on the tile and had a nasty bump so we had to keep her awake for 2 hours and then wake her up after 2 hours. We were pretty much a hot mess! Now Jacob has what Riley had and is actually on a nebulizer treatment every 4 hours. I am actually feeling pretty overwhelmed and am really hoping that my mom is able to fly up tonight to help. Between, pumping, breathing treatments and feedings plus Riley in the mix I have no idea how I can handle everything so hopefully mommy can come to the rescue. Luckily, Jacob does not have RSV, that came back negative and at 8 weeks he weighed 9lbs 11oz, my little beefcake. Jacob is at that awesome age. He has started to smile and light up when he sees us and it is awesome. He's taken a particular liking to Riley's old fishy play mat and a green plush frog rattle. He's cooing and bunch and is overall a super happy guy (minus this respiratory virus that he has right now).
Riley is a total trip, I am super happy to say she seems to have gotten past her extreme jealousy and is seriously in love with her brother. Her Riley-isms get more funny with each day. Right now, our favorites are when she calls her Crocs, her "crotches." She even asked me where my "crotches" were and when I told her I didn't have any she told me I should get some "crotches just like her." Marc and I can't help but laugh. She also calls the bank the "piggy bank." I really need to write down all of the Riley-isms when she says them because they are really hilarious. All Riley can talk about right now is when Brother is older and he goes to school with her, all she has to do is ask her teacher and she can go visit her brother whenever she wants. She is VERY excited! And she loves to help with anything and everything. When you say you need to do something out loud she chimes in "I can help you" and gets to work at the task at hand. It's actually very sweet!

| One of Riley's favorite birthday presents! Roller skates just like the Care Bears have in their movie. She's actually pretty good at them! |
| First smiles from my handsome pants! I can't get enough of them! Fortunately there are no shortages on Jacob-pants smiles, he has plenty, especially for Riley and I. He's definitely a Mamma's boy! :) |

Busy Busy Busy
It's been a busy few weeks and I am way behind on blogging about the latest birthday party that Riley attended. She went to her friend Vikram's, from day care, party at this awesome place called Super Franks. They had an awesome private room that was geared to toddlers so all of the kids could run freely and it was a safe controlled environment. We might just have to look at Super Franks for Riley's next birthday party! Of course Riley had a blast. Vikram's mom actually told me that when she went into the classroom to put the invites on the kids' clipboards that Riley saw her hanging up the invitations and yelled "I want to go to a party!" She said it was so cute, yep, our Riley loves a good party. It's so adorable to see all of the kids together outside of day care, they get SO super excited to see each other. Riley's new little buddy is Mitchell and she has to sit next to him for breakfast every day. Here are some pictures from Vikram's fun!
We've been busy with daily life too! We attempted potty training last weekend, let's just say Riley is back in pull-ups. The more I had her in panties the more she peed them and by the second day she wouldn't put them on. She got annoyed very quickly with me asking her if she had to go potty and 2 seconds after I would ask her she would say "Oh no mommy, I pee peed myself!" Grrrr! After we put pull-ups back on she did an awesome job of pottying on the toilet. We were all pretty frustrated so we're putting it on hold for a few weeks and we will try again with the goal to have her potty trained before the baby comes.
I've been feeling good, I had my 14 week appointment yesterday and so far everything looks good. My Dr wants me to do progesterone shots starting at 16 weeks so I will start those the same week that we have our next ultrasound. I will get them weekly for the rest of the pregnancy since Riley was premature. My Dr thinks I was in active labor for some time since at 36 weeks I was already 3cm and 70% effaced so better safe than sorry! So our next appointment is July 22 to check for clubfeet for the first time and we're hoping to find out the gender too!
Well little miss is up from her nap so more later!
